
Leicestershire County Council transformed access to cultural heritage with iBase DAM, digitizing 175+ years of collections with 1 million+ objects from museums, libraries and archives, providing public access, online exhibitions, and educational downloads for researchers, students, artists and designers.
The Leicestershire County Council's museums collections record the natural life of Leicestershire and reflect the lives, histories and interests of the people who have made Leicestershire their home. Most of the objects in the collections have been given to the museum service by local people, institutions, businesses and organisations or have been purchased with the support of local Friends groups or national grants. Highlights of the museum collections are displayed in market town museums and feature in exhibitions at community venues. The collections are used by researchers, students, artists and designers in a variety of different ways.
The County Council Museums Service is responsible for the care and stewardship of over 1 million objects which have been collected since 1849 and are cared for by specialist curators.

Copies of many of the images are available for purchase
Images from the site can be downloaded for personal and educational purposes
