Project Focus

Dumfries and Galloway Council, Cultural Services holds an important and extensive collection of images relating to the region. These have been built up over many years. Currently there are over 15,000 images in the collection, and it is these that have been digitised for this website.

Postcards, glass negatives, transparencies, engravings, lantern slides and photographic prints both individual and from albums are all held, and copies of them form the basis of the general collection. There are many tens of thousands more held in special collections, and these will be added to the site as time allows.
